Preparing a nice family meeting could be an ideal occasion to prepare stuffed turkey in Azerbaijani style. This turkey is prepared with walnut stuffing and seasoned with turmeric powder and sour plum jam. This little change in the flavors is refreshing and surprising. Ingredients:
  • Whole Turkey (without the intestines)
  • For the stuffing:
  • 8 Large Onions
  • 8.8 Oz. Walnuts
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Turmeric powder
  • 2.5 Tbsp Sour plum jam
  • For the marinade:
  • 1 Tbsp Sour plum jam
  • 1 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Black pepper
  • Hot water
Directions:

Chop the onion finely and put it into a cloth, then press the liquid out of the onions until they are dry.

Chop the walnuts finely.

Mix the onion and the chopped walnuts in a big bowl. Season with salt, black pepper, turmeric powder, and sour plum jam. Mix it properly.

Prepare the marinade for the turkey. Mix turmeric powder, black pepper, salt, and sour plum jam with some hot water.

Paste the marinade on the turkey from inside and outside. Then fill the turkey with the stuffing.

When ready place the turkey on a baking tray with some oil and place it in the oven for grilling. Grill until the meat is tender and the skin is light golden brown.

Serve with warm flatbread. Enjoy!
